We have an exciting opportunity for two research assistants to join our team for a short project, assessing food provision and consumption in early years settings. You will be based in London and collecting data from settings in Lambeth and Southwark.

The project is funded by Impact on Urban Health, in partnership with Bremner & Co.

Sheffield Hallam University is the research partner for the project, which will be managed by Jo Pearce and Claire Wall.

Your main tasks will be to recruit settings to take part in the project, and then conduct data collection, maintaining excellent relationships with the research sites.

You will be responsible for entering and coding of dietary data and other data associated with the project.

Applications are invited from highly motivated individuals with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, and an interest in the health, wellbeing, or research methods, involving food provision for children.

You will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and an interest in ensuring data is collected consistently within different types of setting.

The role will require regular visits to settings across Southwark and Lambeth, to collect data at times when meals are provided. This may need you to work before 9am or after 5pm on an occasional basis.

If you are offered this post, you will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.  A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.

We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.

You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.

Find out more about the TPS

If you are, or have been, a recent member of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) directly prior to joining us, you can choose to opt out of the TPS and remain in the USS.   Please contact the Pensions team to discuss options available.

The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role; this will depend on a number of factors specific to the individual applicant.
