About the Role
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Clinical Studies Manager to manage a recently funded NIHR study (DIRECT). The role is based in the Bone and Joint Health group within the Centre of Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma Centre at the Blizard Institute. DIRECT is a multicentre, pragmatic, cluster (hospital) randomised, single crossover, registry-enabled noninferiority trial evaluating thromboprophylaxis management strategies in patients who suffer a hip fracture. The post holder will be accountable for operational management of the study from set up to delivery.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
About You
You are an enthusiastic, committed professional with attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You will have a degree in a relevant subject and /or equivalent experience in the development, conduct and management of multi-centre randomised trials. You will have recent experience in the coordination of cinical trials involving Investigational Medicinal Products a comprehensive understanding of UK Clinical Trials Regulations, the European Directives on Clinical Trials and Good Clinical Practice and the Department of Health’s Research Governance Framework. An ideal candidate would possess on-site monitoring experience, an ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team, experience of study trial documentation development, excellent attention to detail and organisational skills and a willingness to travel within the UK
Previous experience working in orthopaedic trials would be advantageous but is not essential.
