We’re seeking an HR Assistant to join our HR Operations Team at the University of Surrey - a global community of ambitious minds, dedicated to life-changing education and research. The Role

You’ll support our day-to-day operations while assisting the team with testing and training on our new system. We're seeking someone eager to learn, with a customer-focused mindset, who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo and suggest improvements.

You'll manage relationships with external and internal candidates, ensuring employees, managers, and future team members receive exceptional service to all queries.

Working closely with our Team Leader, you'll gain exposure to complex projects and collaborate with various departments across the University.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with customers to provide first line HR advice and guidance to the business, aiming for a ‘right first-time response’ on all HR queries, policies and procedures.
  • Take ownership of managing inbound queries and customer relationships to agreed SLAs
  • Ensure employees and managers receive a high level of customer service
  • Escalate more complex or unique queries to other colleagues as appropriate
  • To ensure the recruitment life cycle is delivered effectively and where appropriate engage the use of the Resourcing team
  • Ensure payroll and pension related tasks are completed by the prescribed deadlines, ensuring accuracy, quality and consistency of data entry is of a high standard

The role is 21.6 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times. While we offer the option to work from home, we do ask that you come to the office once or twice a week to help maintain our strong team dynamic.
