About Us
IGS is a rapidly growing independent geoscience consultancy based in the UK. Our work includes large, complex, multi-disciplinary geo-thematic and strategic-level studies with National Governments, through their Geological Survey Organisations and International Development Agencies such as the World Bank and African Development Bank. We deliver competitively priced, quality services to the commercial mineral exploration sector. Further information about the company can be found on our website: www.igsint.com.
About the Roles
IGS is currently leading a consortium as the Technical Partner of the Saudi Geological Survey for a program to acquire geological data for the Arabian Shield. This program is the largest of its kind that includes detailed geological mapping of the Arabian Shield, a geochemical survey, an airborne geophysical survey and the establishment of a National Geological Database (NGD) and a National Core Library (NCL). Our role is to provide quality control of all geodata acquired by various international contractors to ensure it meets international standards and complies with the agreed technical specifications. This is a unique and dynamic fast-moving project where results are delivered quickly to the client. IGS has assembled a world-class group of international geologists for this project but wants to strengthen its geological mapping component.
For the technical supervision of the geological mapping part of the project in Saudi Arabia we are seeking mapping geologists with significant working experience in structurally complex areas consisting of a wide variety of rocks (generally weakly to moderately metamorphic, deformed rocks of various compositions) and proven experience in quality control of reports AND geological datasets and/or cartographic products (maps, digital data packets). Experience in compiling geological maps and interpreting remote sensing data is an advantage.
