Continuing education is one of the most prominent and dynamic fields in global higher education. The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education is an established leader in the field, tracing its roots back to 1873.  The Institute is based at the historic Madingley Hall campus, four miles west of Cambridge.

The Institute of Continuing Education provides high-quality courses, drawing on the resources of one of the world's best universities, for adults from all backgrounds and life stages.  Most courses are open access or offer non-standard entry routes.

The Institute administers and delivers Levy-funded Apprenticeships as part of our mission to widen participation in higher education and encourage social mobility.  Apprenticeships are offered in the fields of architecture and research leadership and the Institute supports a departmental programme for senior police officers.  We have an ambitious goal to expand the offer in several technical fields as part of our 2021-25 strategic plan.

We seek to appoint an Apprenticeship Compliance Manager to ensure that our approach delivers an exceptional learning experience for apprentices and their employers, and that our planning, systems and day-to-day operations are compliant with the frameworks set by Ofsted, Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), professional bodies and University regulations.

Reporting to the Deputy Director (Apprenticeships and Technical Education) of the Academic Centres Division, the successful post holder will manage a small team to ensure a data-led and learner-centred approach to compliance, working closely with employers, apprentices, academics and course administrators.

The post holder will have experience of working in regulated sectors with a clear understanding of compliance in terms of systems development, operational effectiveness and continuous improvement.  Preferably, they will have worked in the apprenticeship sector, in either higher or further education, or industry.  They will have excellent communication, partnership and management skills and will take an analytical and methodological approach to their work.

This role may involve Regulated Activity with apprentices, including those under 18. As such, the successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including a check against the children's barred list, as part of the University's commitment to safeguarding. We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners, and expect all staff to share this commitment.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse working environment.

We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or belief.

The Apprenticeship Compliance Manager will be expected to work from Madingley Hall for the equivalent of a minimum of two days each week, with other work conducted remotely.  Travel to visit employers and apprentices at their places of work will also be required.

Please submit a cover letter and CV as part of your application.
