As part of its plan for continued excellence and growth, the School of Global Development is seeking to recruit to a permanent lectureship post. The successful candidate will undertake high quality research aligned with the School’s research strategy and contribute to teaching on undergraduate geography and other undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School.
With the support of the School, you will be expected to develop your research profile, produce high quality research proposals for external funding and disseminate results through high quality academic publications and conferences. Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to plan, teach and assess work at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise PhD students.
You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in geography or a related subject area or be nearing completion with award within 6 months of commencement, or equivalent experience. It is essential that you have a strong publication record and plans for future development of your research. Experience of academic leadership and supervising PhD students would be advantageous.
The School of Global Development is home to more than 30 geographers, anthropologists, sociologists, economists, political and environmental scientists. Our research and teaching span a range of interdisciplinary themes, including development studies, geography, environmental change, media & development, education, environmental justice, migration and humanitarian aid. Colleagues in the School collaborate widely across the university and are actively involved with interdisciplinary initiatives and programmes such as the Global Environmental Justice group, the Science, Society & Sustainability (3S) group, the Norwich Institute for Sustainable Development, The Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and CreativeUEA.
This full-time post is available from 6 January 2025 on an indefinite basis.
