Applications are invited for a three-year Daphne Jackson Fellowship sponsored by Alzheimer’s Society. The Fellowship is open to talented dementia researchers with biomedical or care specialisms who wish to return to research within a UK university or research institution.

Alzheimer’s Society is committed to supporting early-career researchers (ECRs) and improving the career pipeline to help ECRs to become independent researchers. We know that research careers provide very little scope for extenuating circumstances or the challenges that come with balancing work and home life. This lack of flexibility can often lead to difficult decisions about whether a career in research is still feasible, with many researchers feeling forced to leave. Alzheimer’s Society and Daphne Jackson Trust are working in partnership to support those individuals that have had to leave research in returning to their careers; preventing the loss of diverse, talented researchers from the dementia field.

Daphne Jackson Fellowships

The Daphne Jackson Trust is dedicated to returning researchers following a career break of at least two years or more from a paid research position, taken for a family, caring or health reason.

Daphne Jackson Fellowships are unique - they offer professionals wishing to return to a research career after a break of two or more years, the opportunity to balance an individually tailored retraining programme with a challenging research project in a suitably supportive environment. The unparalleled support offered by the Trust's Fellowship Advisors and administrative staff, coupled with mentoring and retraining provided during the Fellowship, give returners the confidence and skills they need to successfully return to research.
