Who we’re looking for:

The successful candidate will be expected to join a dynamic and research active teaching team and contribute to a range of high quality professional accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in sport and exercise psychology, and applied sport psychology. The school is seeking a motivated and personable individual with an applied sport and exercise psychology background to teach students across a range of different subject areas in sport and exercise psychology, who also possesses an excellent understanding of research, and research informed practice.

What you’d be doing:

The successful candidate will be expected to have a detailed understanding of applied sport and exercise psychology, with consideration to areas such as football, injury and rehabilitation, professional practice, and contemporary areas of sport and exercise psychology. You will be expected to take lead responsibility for modules on the programmes and to create a positive student experience. Your role will require you to support recruitment activities for the school through attendance at open and applicant days. You will also play an active role in research, scholarly and knowledge exchange activity, and the applied practice of sport psychology support to our external network, professional partners and athletes.

You’ll need to enjoy:

  • Working closely with students, academic and professional colleagues.
  • Devising, developing and delivering a diverse range of teaching, learning and assessment activities.
  • Supporting students’ professional and personal development.
  • Using a range of approaches to support student learning including digital resources.
  • Working to your values: we care about how people behave as well as what they achieve.

Where you’ll work:

In this role, you’ll be based in the sport and exercise psychology team, on our green campus in the north of Plymouth. The University has a well-established reputation for sport and there is a thriving applied sport and exercise psychology practice and research culture. There will be opportunities for you to support student learning and applied sport psychology practice with professional teams and athletes in this setting.

Our current hybrid working policy means you can work from home or on campus, but you will need to maintain strong campus links and be available on-site when needed.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Melissa Coyle, Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for MSc Applied Sport Psychology, on mcoyle@marjon.ac.uk
