Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 26th September 2024

Job Ref: ENG229R

A Computational and Experimental Specialist (KTP Associate) is sought for a joint project between the School of Engineering, University of Aberdeen and industrial partner Gall Thomson Environmental Limited.

The post holder will lead delivery of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project to develop a new technology for minimising or eliminating the release of hydrocarbon into the environment during offshore fluid transport operations.

Your role will lead the development of the new technology by conducting computational fluid dynamics modelling and simulation, data profiling, integration and pilot-scale experimentation.

Throughout the project, you will be fully supported by academic supervisors Dr Jeff Gomes and Dr Lateef Akanji, from the University of Aberdeen’s School of Engineering.

A key aspect of your role will be to consolidate the knowledge and technical skills necessary to develop and validate the new model and transfer this knowledge and expertise to the company. Hence, you will be working closely with the engineering teams at the host company, qualifying the market opportunity and balancing the commercial and quality requirements of the company with the computational and experimental challenges of the project.

This is a technically challenging commercial project. The post-holder will be expected to carry out administrative tasks related directly to the timely delivery of the project and knowledge transfer. Effective communication with colleagues, as well as building rapport with existing and potential stakeholders is critical to the success of this project. The successful candidate is expected to have and develop technical and personal skills (verbal and written) as required with increasing responsibility as experience level develops through the duration of the project.

Salary will be paid at the rate £35,000 to £40,000 per annum with placement determined by skills and experience. The successful candidate will also receive a personal development budget of £4,167.
