The Centre for Geopolitics (CfG), a research centre within the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, invites applications for a fixed-term, part-time (6 hours per week) videographer to film and edit selected in-person events, and edit selected online events, using the high-quality equipment owned by the Centre.
The videographer is required - on request - to collect filming equipment from the Centre, transport it to a venue, set up the equipment in advance of an event (including camera, lighting and microphones for speakers), and film/record the event taking place. The post holder would then return the equipment to the Centre, edits the resulting footage, and after approval by the Centre, uploads it to the relevant platform - primarily YouTube. On occasion, editing of an online event will be required on provision of the recording.
The role is vital to the Centre's work and its impact. It's not unusual for an event to attract a relatively small audience on the day, but to gain views of the recording by many thousands of individuals - sometimes more than 10,000. It requires technical skill and great flexibility in availability, including evenings.
Due to the funding model, the videographer will be employed on a fixed-term contract, ending 31st July 2025 in the first instance.
Proposed start date: October 2024
