The Head of IT Operations and Deputy Director of IT will work with and deputise for the Director of IT in determining and delivering a technology strategy that meets the aspirations and objectives contained within the new University Strategy to 2030; and providing for the 24/7 needs of a community of c23,000 individuals. Balancing strategic and operational needs, you will manage the day-to-day operations being delivered by a team of professionals and managing high-value vendor and contractor relationships. Managing a range of ongoing projects; you will also be responsible for managing security, compliance and business continuity for a large and complex multi-site international business of education.

Candidates will be educated to degree level and probably with a relevant IT professional qualification. You must have extensive experience of managing equivalent technology services in large and complex organisations with an emphasis on the delivery of high-quality customer focused technical services. Not necessarily from a university background, you will however need to demonstrate good understanding and empathy with the challenges faced by the higher education sector, and the needs of a complex range of stakeholders in the academic context. In addition to your technical skills you will also need to be able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal skills, financial management capabilities and change management expertise.

Formal interviews will take place on Wednesday 13th November 2024, shortlisted candidates will also be asked to make a presentation to members of the panel prior to the interview.
