Summary:
Step inside the state of the art, 20,000m2, £86 million Diamond building and you’ll be inspired by what we can offer Engineering students. It is our largest ever investment encompassing world leading facilities in teaching and learning, with 15 specialist engineering teaching laboratories designed to create a fantastic place for interdisciplinary engineering education. Within the Faculty of Engineering, one of the biggest and best engineering faculties in the UK, sits Multidisciplinary Engineering Education (MEE), an innovative teaching group providing students with the opportunity to realise their full potential as engineering leaders with employable skills.
Our team has around 50 members of academic, technical and administrative staff. The practical teaching covers a range of subject areas designed around 3 main themes:
We are seeking a capable, highly motivated and enthusiastic multidisciplinary engineering technician to join our dynamic teaching team. You will work with colleagues to support teaching in laboratories in the subject areas of Materials Science, Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering.
You will have proven experience working in a science or engineering laboratory, with good communication skills essential for collaborating closely with colleagues within the department. An ability to follow clear instructions and encourage student learning is important.
Working with the Technical Team Leader, you will support the Faculty’s teaching activities by providing an effective and efficient technical service. The main focus of the role is supporting practical teaching activities in the Diamond, as well as supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student projects. We are a collegial team, providing mentoring support for colleagues at all career stages. We welcome candidates from all subject areas and BAME applicants to contribute to the diversity of our team.
