Role overview

There are 5 posts available which offer exciting opportunities in research training for clinical professionals including doctors, nurses, midwives, veterinarians and other allied health practitioners. They offer a first step towards developing a research career in diseases of resource poor settings.

The successful applicants will be expected to spend a substantial amount of time overseas in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) completing a PhD project addressing a research question of relevance to local health needs.

Eligibility

To be eligible for our programme, applicants must possess a UK clinical license to practice.

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate:

Strong academic potential: A track record of academic excellence and a commitment to furthering their academic journey.

Global health interest: A genuine interest in addressing health issues in the Global South and a desire to dedicate their future career to this cause.

Liverpool connection: A suitable supervisor(s) at either the University of Liverpool or the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) must be clearly identified, and a letter of support from them should be uploaded with the application.

All prospective applicants are required to submit a 500-word concept note outlining a well-structured project proposal. The subject of the proposal can be applicant derived or one put forward by a prospective supervisor but of mutual interest.
