ABOUT THE ROLE

The Accounting and Financial Management Department at Northumbria University is seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate to join its Accounting Subject as an Associate Professor of Accounting. The role-holder will be expected to demonstrate continuing academic attainment and achievement and provide academic leadership (of their subject and associated colleagues), through contribution to their discipline and to the communal life and work of their Faculty and the wider University. This will involve undertaking a specific management portfolio within the Department and, more generally, the Faculty. Beyond the discipline and University, the successful candidate will work to bring significant change within practice, profession and/or community at regional, national and international level. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to delivering the Faculty’s strategic priorities, which include the integration of high quality research, excellent teaching, and the provision and inclusiveness of leadership on a range of diverse portfolios within an academic context. 

The role holder will lead and contribute to research activities, increasing the level of inclusiveness in the subject and the department and delivering appropriate research outputs, income generation and impact as agreed by the department's Research leadership team.  We are interested in hearing from candidates from all areas of accounting, particularly from those who can demonstrate expertise in financial accounting, auditing, taxation and management accounting; an outstanding profile and a robust research agenda and evidence of previous research funding success are also essential. In addition, the role-holder will assist the Head of Department and the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor to maintain, enhance and improve the University’s national and international reputation in their academic field.
