North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College are looking for a Pastoral Support Worker to support and motivate identified vulnerable students, particularly Children Looked After, Care Leavers, Young Carers and young people living independently, with a range of behavioural, social and emotional needs to enable them to participate in their learning and progress onto further studies or employment. 

What skills are we looking for:

  • Experience of supporting young people/vulnerable adults with a range of social, emotional and behaviour needs using different support strategies
  • Experience of working to challenging targets
  • Achieved or working towards a Safeguarding qualification, Level 2 equivalent
  • Minimum of Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy skills
  • Minimum of Level 2 IT Skills

Responsibilities for the role:

  • To work with students on an agreed basis to ensure that their pastoral and welfare needs are met.
  • To develop an understanding of the specific needs of the students and to support the development of strategies to meet their needs.
  • To support and advocate for specific students at external meetings to enable them to engage and share their views about issues affecting their emotional and physical health and well-being.
  • To develop a good working relationship with Curriculum teams and Personal Development Coaches.
  • When required, undertake appropriate duties on behalf of the Team Leader Pastoral Support which may include attending professional meetings with external partners regarding welfare and safeguarding matters relating to your identified caseload.
  • To work closely with the Wellbeing Hub Co-ordinators and Safeguarding Team to enable students to access appropriate internal and external support.
  • To use behaviour management strategies, (in line with the College’s policy and procedures)   and report issues appropriately to ensure support is made available.
