This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

This new full – time post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until the 31st of December 2025.

Summary of the role

This role is based within the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) as part of a multi-disciplinary Professional Services team providing support for all University activities. The primary role of this post is to support discrete projects or activities and the strategic development of nominated groups (eg research centres, teaching groups or areas of opportunity) within the Faculty. Working predominantly with the Deputy Director of Faculty Operations, but also with the Director of Faculty Operations and relevant Department Managers, the post-holder will work with a range of academic and professional services staff to develop, grow or deliver change. The post holder will lead on or help with the creation of ideas and support the sustainable development of nominated groups. This might be the development of commercial opportunities, income diversification ideas or support for areas needing fast improvement.

The postholder will be expected to develop and manage a wide range of relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, investigate and understand challenges and then consider sustainable solutions that fit with the Faculty’s strategic direction.  

This role offers an exciting opportunity for the post holder to help shape and influence the next phase of key priority areas within HASS. This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to the wide range of work done in a Faculty whilst developing skills.  The successful candidate will be creative and innovative, be a team player with an ability to work independently, have a proven problem-solving ability with burgeoning leadership skills; they will need to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences including senior stakeholders. They will also need to have strong administrative skills,  the ability to go and explore/scope out a problem considering possible solutions and timeframes for delivery and the ability to develop relationships quickly The role may also include an element of budget management depending on individual projects.
