The role

The Sector Specialist will provide advice and support to the Division of Research, Enterprise and Innovation and the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences on the development of new life sciences propositions and initiatives that could lead to innovation at scale, for the purpose of generating a pull, to bring together knowledge and capabilities for regional impact.

This is a fixed term position until 20th June 2025.

What will you be doing?

The Sector Specialist will advise the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences on the implementation of impact, translation, and partnerships components of it’s strategy, and provide expert advice and guidance on propositions and initiatives which aim to grow the University’s capacity and capability for life sciences innovation. This will include, for example, advice on South West Life Sciences, an initiative which is advocating for regional life science capabilities.

You should apply if

You have experience of operating at the interface of the life sciences industry and academia at a senior management level, underpinned by world class life sciences expertise.

You should have extensive links to leading industry and government players in the life science sector and demonstrate highly developed knowledge of the principles, theory and practice in relevant industry alongside deep understanding of Government policies and strategies in relation to life sciences.

Strong interpersonal skills including motivational, negotiating, influencing and networking nationally and internationally are a must.
