The Opportunity:

Childlight, a global child safety institute, is looking for an Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSEA) Data Specialist to ensure that we bring a variety of administrative data from across the global criminal justice system into our research. The post-holder will be responsible for engaging with criminal justice professionals internationally, to access, analyse and interpret data to feed in to Childlight’s Into the Light Global Index and Searchlight report.

You will provide analytical support and insight, building research relationships and engaging in strategic data analysis across the online child sexual exploitation and abuse services landscape. This will include working with policing and law enforcement, but also capturing the experiences of agencies that operate cybertip lines, hotlines, social support services, offender data, online safety, regulatory bodies, and national security. You will bring experience of working across the child protection and safeguarding field to understand how data is currently captured and by whom, and how these data sets may join together for greater insight.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed-term until 30th September 2026, however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.  We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote (within the UK) and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Experience of conducting data analysis of technology-facilitated CSEA data
  • Experience of using big data to write strategic assessments
  • Experience of a range of research methodologies
  • Experience of building strong partnership with agencies around the world
  • Experience of gathering, analysing and presenting complex information to a senior audience
  • A passion for making the world a better place and preventing CSEA, improving services and safeguarding children
