Home to four specialist schools - Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Leicester School of Pharmacy – the Faculty has a long tradition of providing high quality education and development to professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. The dedicated facilities are designed to replicate current practice and feature industry-standard equipment, enabling staff and students to undertake life changing projects to improve health and social care. DMU is one of the foremost providers of Advanced Clinical Practice education in the East Midlands.

Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) ideally with a prescribing qualification to join our academic team in The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery. This is a part time (0.6 wte) role or a secondment opportunity, supporting delivery of the highly successful MSc Advanced Clinical Practice programme. You will join a team of enthusiastic, committed, and friendly staff and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the School, Faculty and the wider University. We are looking to actively grow our ACP provision and increase student numbers to meet NHS demand. Therefore, in order reflect national multi-professional developments in advanced clinical practice, we are encouraging applications from individuals with varied professional registration, for example nurses, or allied health professionals, such as, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists or paramedics from either a healthcare or commissioning background.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful, you will have a relevant academic background, such as a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice or hold post graduate modules relevant to the ACP role, with evidence of continuing professional development. You’ll be required to undertake teaching at post-graduate level, with some undergraduate student teaching. You will also have involvement in continual professional development teaching to post registration students from a wide range of backgrounds. Contribution to the assessment process for students including the setting, marking and moderation of student work, individually or collectively as part of a module team in accordance with quality assurance processes. You will be required to design and develop innovative and engaging learning materials and assessments and participate in curriculum development. There will be expectations to work collaboratively with clinical colleagues and other stakeholders. Support students, supervisors, and assessors in clinical placements and across a variety of care settings will be vital to the role. You will be expected to engage in scholarship, research and professional / external income generation activities in ways that contribute to the University / School’s objectives and contribute to ensuring up-to-date, leading-edge teaching.
