The International Education and Lifelong Learning Institute (IELLI) at University of St Andrews is recruiting for a 0.4 FTE Lecturer in TESOL and International Education (Education Focused) to work primarily on its distance learning doctoral programme (DProf TESOL). We would particularly welcome applicants with expertise/scholarly output in the area of educational technology.

We will consider requests from applicants to fulfil the role remotely. In general, Lecturers working remotely on this programme need to reside in the UK, but there may also be the possibility of supporting payroll for permanent residents of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, or the USA, depending on personal circumstances.

This post provides the opportunity to contribute to IELLI’s growing postgraduate TESOL and International Education programmes, which include a substantial distance-learning cohort studying at both master’s and doctoral level. There may also be opportunities to take on academic leadership roles within the department, as well as to contribute to other areas of provision.

The successful applicant will join IELLI at an exciting time of change, as we continue to grow our postgraduate provision in the areas of TESOL and International Education. While this is an education focused post, scholarly activity relevant to learning and teaching is supported financially and factored into workload modelling.

The intended start date for this position is 26 November 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Employees of the University have access to a wide range of staff benefits including:

  • Annual leave of 34 days, plus 5 public holidays.
  • Financial contribution to relocation.
  • Membership of the USS Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions.
  • Staff discount scheme for local and national goods and services.
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives including membership of Peppy, a health application that connects staff to expert practitioners and personalized support on health matters.

Position requirements
Please see the linked Further Particulars document for full application requirements. We are seeking practitioners who enjoy taking on new challenges, and who have a strong commitment to both their own and colleagues’ professional development.
