Location: Remote (UK) - with the expectation of regular travel to Campuses

An opportunity has risen to join our Executive Board as a Pro Vice-Chancellor Education, which plays a central role in the development and implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan. 

As our Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education, you will provide clear academic leadership which ensures the University is the University of choice for the professions leading innovation in applied education leveraging digital transformation and the use of generative AI,  establishing The University of Law (ULaw) as a globally leading, digitally enabled university.

You will assume responsibility for developing and maintaining a consistent innovative pedagogy across all disciplines and programmes at Ulaw including the use of digital technologies, data and digital approaches to support student outcomes, research informed teaching and a Centre for Learning Teaching and Assessment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Assessment, ensuring that its priorities are delivered in a timely way and that it meets the needs of the University in relation to blended, hybrid and online education including digital education.
  • Provide expert academic leadership, to the Director of Education (Director of Design and Assessment), the Director for Technology Enhanced Learning and Learner Analytics, the Director of Academic Development (Director of Academic Enhancement and Research) and lead on the academic training of all staff engaged in digital transformation.
  • Lead on the management and delivery of the academic workload planning model across all disciplines, working with the DVC Law and PVC Business and Science ensuring the appropriate allocation of academic resource to deliver University wide initiatives.
  • Promote innovation, including the development and adoption of new and flexible modes of learning and the use of new and emerging educational technologies and open-source learning.
  • Provide the University with up-to-date insights, intelligence and understanding of key issues impacting the development of pedagogical and digital transformation of education.

We are looking for individuals who are/have:

  • Demonstrable success in a senior leadership role, with relevant experience of leading and managing in a complex and multi-site organisation.
  • Proven academic leadership of transformation of higher education including the use of digital technologies, data and digital approaches.
  • A strong personal academic track record and experience of teaching, and leading pedagogical change including the use of digital technologies in a university setting.
  • Demonstrable intellect, creativity and judgement, and evidence of developing original ideas, creative approaches and showing sound judgement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • PhD Qualification.
