Education and Academic Services

Student Employability and Academic Success (SEAS)

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

The role requires flexibility of hours, as it will include occasional early mornings and evening work (to be agreed in advance), during busy periods.

This full–time post is available immediately on a permanent basis.

Summary of the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Employer Events Team, as an Employer Events Support Officer.

The Employer Events Team are responsible for delivering a busy and varied programme of employability and careers-focused activities throughout the academic year, including: careers fairs; recruitment presentations; panel talks; mock interviews; Instagram lives and promotional events.

The post holder will plan, organise and deliver these employer and alumni-focused events, both virtually and physically on-campus, as well as undertake and support student, employer and alumni communications and marketing, plus all other tasks associated with event management.

About you

We are seeking a proactive, highly motivated and extremely organised individual, with a 'can-do' attitude to join our close-knit team. Given the fast pace of our work, your administrative experience will ensure you have the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines under pressure and manage multiple tasks - switching between them as required with ease, whilst maintaining accuracy. You will be committed to providing exceptional customer service at all times, even during busy periods.

You will have excellent communication skills, liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders such as employers, alumni, students and staff, to facilitate the successful delivery of events and will develop strong working relationships with employers to support their recruitment needs. Solid written skills are required to produce marketing content including email circulars and printed material. You will use Outlook, Teams and Sharepoint daily and will be able to quickly assimilate an understanding of the systems we use, such as our careers platform ‘Handshake’ and finance system, ‘T1’. Excellent IT skills are therefore essential.

The post holder will actively seek to contribute to team discussions, help find solutions to challenges and make suggestions for improvements. You will be confident making decisions and working independently but will be a team player, working collaboratively with colleagues.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in event management in a Higher Education setting. Familiarity delivering virtual events would be advantageous but full training will be given. The post holder will undertake supervision of student staff and support our Employer Event Administrators, so previous experience of this would be desirable.
