The Head of Researcher Development will lead on the development and delivery of a suite of researcher development interventions across the full range of career stages, from PGR to Research Leaders.

The Role

As Head of Researcher Development, you will lead a team of Researcher Developers to deliver a comprehensive programme of training, development, large-scale events, and a portfolio of institutional investment schemes for our research community. You will play a key role in delivering the University’s ambition to develop and nurture the next generation of researchers, increase our capability and capacity for research, and continue to build an ambitious, supportive, inclusive environment in which researchers can excel.

Working closely with our 18 Research Centres, you will take responsibility for supporting development needs at all career stages and will lead on the design and delivery of a range of researcher development opportunities. You will support the PGR Training Manager and Researcher Developers in delivering high quality training to PGR and Supervisors, whilst leading on the delivery of content to Research Staff.

The role will also contribute to the institutional agenda of research capacity and capability-building, providing strategic, policy and practice-informed insight into innovation in this area, making significant contributions to preparations for the Research Excellence Framework exercise.

This role is a Job Share and can be offered from 0.6 to 0.8 FTE dependant on preference.

The successful candidate will have ability to influence at all levels and work collaboratively in support of all researchers and professional service staff.
