We are seeking to appoint a new Clinical Lecturer (0.4fte) to complement our existing staff on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate (ClinPsyD) programme. The post holder will provide supervision, teaching and other input into the ClinPsyD, with a particular focus on enhancing our students’ Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) skills development.

The ClinPsyD team currently operate a new clinic designed to enhance CBT training on the programme and mental health care at the University. The clinic provides high-intensity CBT interventions for students and staff with common mental health problems (e.g., anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder), such as those seen at step 3 within Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services. Therapies are delivered by students on the ClinPsyD as part of their CBT skills training and development. The new Clinical Lecturer will provide weekly clinical supervision to these students, as well as day to day management of the clinic, teaching on CBT and supervision of ClinPsyD research projects as appropriate.

Candidates should have expertise in CBT, and professional accreditation as a CBT practitioner with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Candidates who are BABCP accredited CBT supervisors are preferred but we will also accept applications for candidates who meet the relevant criteria for BABCP supervisor accreditation but have not yet completed that process.

The post-holder will be expected to prioritise working on days that the CBT clinic is open (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays). There is a small amount of flexibility around the exact hours to be worked, although the needs of the clinic must be considered.

What you will get in return:

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers
