The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in conservation and heritage science.

Our exhibitions, displays and permanent galleries are where the Museum meets its audiences directly. They are integral to how the Fitzwilliam delivers on its mission and are a core output of its research activities, often involving collaboration with researchers from the wider University and beyond. The ambitious and innovative programme of exhibitions and displays are designed to transform and enhance the visitors' experience and engagement with the collections.

We are seeking a Research Assistant with the skills and pragmatism to assist curators in the development of major exhibitions and displays at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 2023 and 2024.

As part of the Exhibitions and Major Display Projects team, the Research Assistant will undertake a range of research tasks on selected exhibitions and displays as directed by the Head of Exhibitions and Major Display projects and the exhibition curators, often working independently to drive forward exhibition research, securing loans and preparation of the exhibition book and interpretation.  We are seeking someone with strong research skills who has experience of working in a gallery/ museum context, specifically on loan-based exhibitions.  Someone who has well-developed communication skills who is a collaborative team member.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 October 2025 in the first instance.
