The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the  Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Communications Manager to join the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care (NMPC) in a newly created position.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, you will lead on communications for King’s Better Health & Care Futures (BHCF), a university-wide initiative to tackle unresolved challenges encountered by health & care systems worldwide.  

Supporting the BHCF Director & relevant teams, you will deliver and advise on high-quality and strategic communications for BHCF. Alongside this, you will be an integral member of the NMPC Faculty communications team, helping to manage day-to-day communications including the website, intranet, social media channels and events.

This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • First degree or equivalent, significant relevant experience within communications/media/web development
  • Experience of planning & implementing communications strategies and plans working with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience of planning, managing and delivering a range of successful stakeholder events
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce effective content for a variety of channels and audiences in a timely fashion
  • Experience and skill in creating & managing web content and social media channels within a content management system and/or use of HTML
  • Experience of absorbing and evaluating complex information from various sources to create clear & engaging content, preferably within an academic, or health environment
  • Strong people, project and organisational management skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Excellent IT skills, including Office, window, databases, internet, web content management systems etc

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in the higher education sector
  • A secondary-level qualification or demonstrable training in marketing, media, public relations or communications skills
