We have an exciting opportunity to lead the technical team in Data Connect. We are a team set up to help researchers get access to the health and social care data they need to do life-enhancing research that has an impact at local, national and global levels.

Data Connect sits within the Research and Innovation IT team in IT Services but supports research teams across the University including population health, medicine and computer science as well as the South Yorkshire Digital Health Hub, in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre.

The Data Connect team is a new and fast-growing team of health data specialists, data managers, data and software engineers and project and service delivery professionals. We draw on the skills and experience of the wider Research IT team to develop and use best practice in creating, curating and providing secure access to valuable data sets. You will also support the team to establish and maintain robust data pipelines from health data providers.

Your role will be instrumental in progressing the team’s technical development through upskilling and cross-skilling. You will ensure that good practice and appropriate governance are applied to each research project that Data Connect supports. You will do this by leading, supporting, developing and guiding the team, helping them improve their skills and practices, learning with each project delivered.

As part of IT Services at the University of Sheffield, the whole team enjoys and contributes to a culture of openness, trust, inclusivity and continuous learning that makes it an exciting and rewarding place to work.
