About the role

The UCL Great Ormond Stree t Institute of Child Health (ICH) is inviting applications for a Research Fellow position in Bioinformatics with a specialisation in oncology, RNA, and DNA analyses at both the single-cell and bulk levels. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative research environment, contributing to pioneering cancer research projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in: Conducting advanced bioinformatics analyses to interpret high-throughput sequencing data, focusing on single-cell and bulk RNA and DNA datasets. Developing and applying innovative computational methods and algorithms to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets in oncology critical to tumour maintenance, evolution, and metastases. Collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, including molecular biologists, oncologists, and computational scientists, to design and implement integrative data analysis pipelines. Contributing to the development and maintenance of bioinformatics to ols and databases to support the research community. Supervising and mentoring junior researchers and students in bioinformatics methodologies and best practices. The salary offered in this role is £42,099 per annum and is funded until 15/12/2026 in the first instance.

About you

The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting advanced bioinformatics analyses to interpret high-throughput sequencing data, with a focus on single-cell and bulk RNA and DNA datasets. They will develop and apply innovative computational methods and algorithms to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets in oncology, which are critical to tumor maintenance, evolution, and metastasis. The candidate will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including molecular biologists, oncologists, and computational scientists, to design and implement integrative data analysis pipelines. Additionally, they will contribute to the development and maintenance of bioinformatics tools and databases that support the research community. The candidate will present their findings at national and international conferences and publish results in high-impact scientific journals. They will also supervise and mentor junior researchers and students in bioinformatics methodologies and best practices.
