Clinical Psychologist/CBT Therapist (12 month FTC with probability of extending to a full time role)

Initial deployment of the tools has been very successful, making it essential to expand our clinical team. The post-holder will play a key role in training and supervising clinicians and in supporting delivery at scale. They will have a passion for digital mental health and thrive in an environment which moves and changes at pace. This post will offer full training on the OSI and OSCA tools and the chance to work in one of the leading UK digital mental health providers in the UK

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist or CBT Therapist to join our team to support the national roll out of two digitally augmented psychological therapy programmes (Online Support and Intervention (OSI) for child anxiety problems and Online Social anxiety Cognitive therapy for Adolescents (OSCA), an internet delivered therapist-assisted cognitive therapy for adolescent social anxiety disorder). The post will involve working closely with the research teams at the University of Oxford, who designed the tools to facilitate widespread implementation of OSI and OSCA in child and adolescent mental health services that are provided on behalf of the NHS (including Mental Health Support Teams and other schools based teams).  This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to increasing access to effective psychological therapies for children, adolescents and families. The position would suit a clinical psychologist or CBT therapist who has an interest in parent-led CBT and in therapist-led cognitive therapy, a good understanding of child and adolescent mental health services, and experience in delivering training to child and adolescent mental health professionals.

You will:

  • Deliver training to clinicians in child and adolescent mental health services provided on behalf of the NHS (including within a ‘train the trainer’ model).
  • Provide expert supervision via ‘skills groups’ to clinicians using OSI and OSCA.
  • Support the ongoing development of training materials for OSI and OSCA that aligns with Koa’s product development plan.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of Koa’s Community of Practice platform including posting materials, answering questions and taking part in the moderation of the platform.
  • Carry out clinical administrative duties and support day-to-day management of the overall project, helping to ensure team delivery milestones are achieved and the work is carried out to the highest standards.  
  • Work with the research team at the University of Oxford to monitor and evaluate the roll out of OSI and OSCA.
  • Agree clear task objectives, organise, and delegate work as appropriate.
  • Train in and deliver OSI and OSCA (through an Honorary contract with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust or other agreed means).
  • Contribute as directed by Koa Health to other workstreams falling outside of the NHS.  
  • Fulfil other duties appropriate to the grade as directed by Koa Health and/or the Oxford teams.

About You:

  • Possess a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Postgraduate Qualification in CBT.
  • Registration with HCPC and/or BACBP.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with anxiety difficulties.
  • Good understanding of mental health services and especially mental health services for children and young people.
  • Understanding of the theoretical and empirical foundations of parent-led CBT for child anxiety disorders.
  • Understanding of the theoretical and empirical foundations of cognitive therapy for social anxiety disorder. 
  • Experience of parent-led CBT for child anxiety problems.
  • Experience of cognitive therapy for social anxiety disorder based on the Clark & Wells model.
  • Experience with digital psychological therapies.
  • Experience of developing and delivering training to child and adolescent mental health professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational, project management, and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely and to send brief and focussed emails required in a business environment.
  • Ability to work at the pace required in a start-up organisation and to be flexible with a job plan from week to week as required. 
  • Prior experience of digital psychological therapies for child and adolescents will be desirable.
