The University is establishing Greenwich Doctoral College to support the growth and development of PGR training and development including the overall student journey from recruitment to graduation. The college will also have oversight of training and development of our research and knowledge exchange community from Early Career Academics through to Professors.
We are seeking to appoint an Academic Lead for Greenwich Doctoral College. The role is at the professorial level (AC5) within the university reporting to the Director of Greenwich Research and Innovation but will also work closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (R&KE).
Greenwich Doctoral College plays an important role in contributing to a supportive and enabling research culture and environment for future research leaders.
The Head of Greenwich Doctoral College will to provide academic leadership for the development of postgraduate research student education, training, professional development; growth the numbers of PGR students across the University of Greenwich; contribute to ensuring excellent student experience; support PGR researcher and supervisor development; ensure that student outcomes are above national benchmarks, and oversee Research and Knowledge Exchange training and development for academic staff at Greenwich.
You will line manage the Greenwich Doctoral College Manager and the Greenwich Doctoral College Research and Knowledge Exchange Training Manager.
You will have the relevant experience and skills to lead Greenwich Doctoral College. This will include experience of successful supervision of doctoral students, academic experience at professorial level, and relevant experience of management and leadership of academic activities. You will have a strong personal track record of research and/or knowledge exchange activities. You will be an outstanding people manager, able to lead and develop a team, and an excellent communicator, able to build relationships with colleagues across the university and externally. You will be a passionate advocate for the university’s R&KE activities and will be aligned with our values of being inclusive, collaborative and impactful.
