About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Lecturer to strengthen our research and education endeavours within the Department of Mechanical Engineering and in the Centre for Digital, Manufacturing and Design (dMaDe). Great design must start with understanding who the design is for, holistically, and you will bring additional expertise to our team in understanding how digital tools can enhance an inclusive design approach.

You will:

  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to foster innovative learning experiences that prepare students for the challenges of modern engineering.

About you

Our ideal candidate will know that new/current digital solutions are technically amazing - however, to create real impact and change, placing people and their needs at the centre of education and research is critical for success.

You will be:

  • Focused on how engineering intersects with social, cultural, or behavioural aspects, with attention to the application of digital technologies.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding and ability to work in a transdisciplinary manner.
  • Experienced in leading or contributing to research projects with a focus on human-led engineering and the application of digital technologies.
  • A generous leader and have a track record of good academic citizenship.
  • Emotionally intelligent, with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across subject areas and engage with diverse stakeholders.

You will be a kind and culturally aware leader who fosters a supportive learning environment where every individual is valued and respected, regardless of their background or identity. You will understand that change is inevitable and necessary, actively encouraging your team to adapt and evolve. By promoting a culture of openness and inclusivity, you will build a dynamic and empowered team that can thrive in today's changing world.
