About us

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join our dynamic and multidisciplinary team in London, UK. Based at the prestigious UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Sciences, located at the Royal Free Hospital NHS Trust campus, you'll be working with the innovative Tissue Biofabrication group led by Professor Deepak Kalaskar in Bioengineering, and Professors Ash Mosahebi and Ali Pirayesh in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Our team is dedicated to developing advanced bioprinted tissues for pre-clinical testing and clinical applications using cutting-edge biomaterials, de-cellularized tissues, and bioprinting technologies.
Our ultimate goal is to translate these technologies into real-life transplantations to enhance patient care.

About the role

This role is available from Oct 2024 until September 2025 in the first instance.
Salary for Grade 6B (£37,332- £39,980), and Grade 7 (£42,099- £50,585) inclusive of London Allowance per annum pro rata).
• Research Fellows - 'Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD Thesis.'

About you

The post holder will have PhD degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject or equivalent relevant experience, Essential* for Grade 7 and desirable at Grade 6B• Masters-level degree (equivalent to an upper second-class Honours degree) in Engineering, biomedical engineering, or mechanical engineering E
• Excellent understanding of current developments in Bioprinting of tissues E
• Research experience of working with human & animal cells, including primary cells and stem cells E.
