As IT&D, we help to create the University of the future by co-designing new ways of working, enhancing productivity, reducing complexity, supporting innovation, and providing the insights to drive continual improvement. Embracing a digital future in an evolving modern university, you will be working in partnership with our academic and Professional Services colleagues to deliver digital services that help the University achieve its strategic objectives in teaching and research, nationally & globally.

Based within Software Engineering, the Senior Business Analyst will be part of the Integrations Team within the Data & Analytics function in IT & DIgital. Reporting to the Integrations Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in impacting the efficiency of University -wide operations through some of our strategic and transformative programmes.

Using your influencing and collation skills to ensure the design and implementation of solutions meet business requirements, you will focus on the defining, documenting and integrating our new student management system as well as a new HR and Finance solution that will impact the ways of working.

As the Senior Business Analyst, you will:

  • Lead on the delivery of in-depth business architecture/analysis of business and organisational challenges facing the University and the translation of these into high quality business requirements documents that will feed into projects and programmes.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the University to enable the capture and understanding of institutional needs.
  • Responsible for the elicitation, analysis and definition of requirements for a range of critical University business solutions, including production of detailed and consistent documentation for effective development of the Integrations Team.
  • Have a deep understanding of Integrations systems and accompanying regulations and compliance.

To apply, you must have:

  • A degree/professional qualification in Computer Science/Software Engineering/IT or related discipline with demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst.
  • Knowledge of Agile approaches and practices.
  • Experience of JIRA, Azure DevOps or other modern workload management tool as well as of working with product owners and refining a product backlog.
  • Experience of writing and presenting proposals to senior staff and committees.
  • Excellent organisational planning and prioritisation skills, balancing competing demands and managing expectations and resources, bearing in mind the needs of the customer and strategic priorities whilst working across multiple projects to understand dependencies.
  • Ability to carry out comprehensive stakeholder management and work collaboratively with stakeholders to lead and deliver business improvement projects, balancing competing demands and managing expectations and resources, bearing in mind the needs of the customer and strategic priorities.
  • Ability to develop and shape and apply best-practice guidelines as well as using data to influence high- risk decision making.
