The role
The University of Bristol has an opportunity for an experienced and multi-skilled Senior Operations Manager to lead a diverse team across its various catering outlets within the University.
The role will suit someone who has significant experience as a leader within a catering operation, ideally in an academic setting. You must have a proven track record leading teams across all areas of catering and hospitality including retail, large scale and high-end events, high-street hospitality and accommodation. You will be able to demonstrate advanced financial acumen, setting and managing P&L’s and capital investment as well as writing various policy and governance for the operation.
What will you be doing?
You will deputise for the Head of Catering and along with them, oversee all aspects of the department, creating policies, P&L’s, marketing plans, supplier and relationship contracts. You will be a consistent manager providing encouragement and guidance to your team by being an expert in all areas.
This is a high profile role in the University and you’ll rely on your people skills to develop great relationships across departments and with the senior leadership.
You should apply if
You have:
- Extensive experience and knowledge of leading a large team (in excess of 150 team members) within catering and hospitality.
- Able to manage multiple projects with large capital investment.
- Experienced within the academic (specifically FE) setting and working with department heads and senior leadership of an institution of this nature.
- Experience in writing P&Ls and delivering on budget.
- Knowledgeable on delivering sustainable and nutritional on-trend catering and policy.
- Hold the relevant qualifications in food safety and health & safety.
