The Wave

We are pleased to invite applications to the role of Research Project Manager for the NIHR School of Social Care Research (SSCR) at the University of Sheffield. Along with the Director of the SSCR, Katherine Runswick Cole, you will play a key role in the success of the School and be committed to assisting the school in delivering its mission. "To develop the evidence base to inform and improve adult social care practice in England by commissioning and conducting internationally leading research."

You will have responsibility for planning, allocating resources and budget management of the SSCR. You will provide specialist advice to the research groups on strategy, policy and operational procedures. You will monitor the progress of research project teams, making recommendations on how to remedy any issues and fully realise the potential of projects. You will act as a central contact for the SSCR, collaborating closely with external parties including people who use services, unpaid carers, the social care workforce, Department for Health and Social Care, and partner universities.

You should have a degree or equivalent experience and will need to be able to autonomously plan and deliver work with minimal supervision and direction. Experienced in providing administrative support to multi-disciplinary projects, you will be an excellent organiser, have a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a confidential approach.

The role will be based in the Wave, our world-class Social Sciences building which brings together teaching and research from across the Faculty. We are committed to allowing staff to work a hybrid model with a combination of working on campus and remotely, where possible.

We're fully committed to sustaining a positive and mutually supportive working environment free from harassment, discrimination, bullying and victimisation where staff can work collaboratively and productively together, and where all staff are equally valued and respected. We aim to remove barriers that you may face and promote equality of opportunity so that you can achieve your full potential at our University. You can find more information about the benefits of working the University here.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
