Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

University of Cambridge - Department of Medicine

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £29,605 to £33,966
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 20th August 2024
Closes: 17th September 2024
Job Ref: RC42989

We are seeking an eager research assistant to join Dr Annie Speak's group, based within the Cambridge Institute for Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID) housed on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The group studies the interaction between the immune system and tumours with a long-term view to manipulate this in order to development new therapies.

This position will support the experimental aspects of a new project investigating the role of Natural Killer cells within cancer. This will be achieved through manipulating Natural Killer cells to discover intrinsic gene function and utilising co-culture models with cancer cells to uncover cancer cell intrinsic pathways that can result in evasion or sensitisation to cytotoxicity.

The project is funded by Open Targets, a precompetitive collaboration between industry and academic institutes, and offers a unique opportunity to work at this interface.

We are looking for a scientist with a background in immunology, cell biology and/or molecular biology to join our group. We hope to recruit a colleague who will thrive as part of a multidisciplinary group and will work collaboratively to deliver the experimental aspects of the project.

Funds are available for the position until 28th February 2025 with additional funding being actively sought.

Informal enquiries can be sent to Dr. Annie Speak (as3234@cam.ac.uk)

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
