THE PROJECT 

The University of Essex in partnership with Wealmoor Ltd offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and knowledge to develop and deploy novel approaches to global food supply chain management.

This post is fixed term for 29 months and is based at Wealmoor Limited offices in Greenford, Middlesex.  

DUTIES OF THE POST

The duties of the post will include: 

  • General management of the project; taking leadership in achieving the project objectives.
  • Review of the company’s data management system to define a robust data governance system.
  • Undertake the interpretation, evaluation, and criticism of existing literature, relevant to the project.
  • Internal and external horizon scanning; critically evaluating and analysing data and metrics.
  • In-depth assessment and mapping of company’s national and international supply chain, logistics and transport network.
  • Ongoing change and risk management, and consideration of suitable mitigation strategies
  • Strategic development of an operational plan and devise a detailed plan for transition from Air freight to Maritime shipping.
  • Design, deliver, and plan any training programme required for the transition.
  • Evaluation and modification of the new operational plan, leading to the final roll out across the company’s supply chain.
  • Strategic, operational and effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Post implementation monitoring, evaluation, action for long term sustainable change delivery
  • Compliance with University and company policies and regulations within the remit of the role.
  • Prepare and produce research reports, project progress reports and other documentation, including assistance with joint publications.
  • Participate and lead in team meetings, committees, and conferences as appropriate.
  • Delivery of guest lectures and participation in seminars for relevant University teaching. Undertake other duties as directed by the academic and industry supervisors.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or similar, or an equivalent level of experience, OR
  • An alternative degree with demonstrable experience relevant to the role, with extensive knowledge of Operations, Logistics, and Supply Chains.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the underlying attributes and critical control points of international perishable food supply chain and logistics structure.
  • Knowledge and understanding of product physiological attributes and impact of packaging, transit, controlled and uncontrolled environment on its shelf life.
  • An understanding of change management.
  • Strong project management knowledge, demonstrating the ability to organise resources, plan, and progress work activities to achieve targets.
  • Experience in data analysis, creating and managing data bases, analysing data sets to draw insights, generating insightful reports and dashboards to support decision-making, maintaining documentation standards and ensuring accuracy.
