Research Fellow in Propellant Chemistry

Role Location: Shrivenham, Oxfordshire

About the Role

You will recognise that knowledge creation and communication are fundamental to university taught output. You will be responsible for:

• Development and maintenance of the new chemiluminescence technique for the analysis of degradation in nitrocellulose.
• Developing new research methods in propellant combustion and chemistry, including burning rate measurement.
  • Teaching support to Academic Provider Courses and Short Courses in energetic materials, propellant chemistry and properties.

You will also be expected to work on existing formulation research contracts and support several projects run within the Centre working closely with colleagues and making effective use of the facilities.

About You

You will have a PhD (or nearing completion) in a field of science related to the area. You will have experience working with energetic materials, development of new experimental instrumentation and techniques, and working across discipline boundaries to deliver results. Additionally, knowledge of chemistry and analytical instrumentation methods is essential.
