About the role

We are seeking a first-year Fine Art Lecturer or Senior Lecturer who is passionate about pedagogy and helping students learn through making. The role is to support and work alongside the other unit leaders in the team to ensure an outstanding student experience and retention. It is desirable for the post holder to have a sculpture specialism, yet we are open to other specialisms. The first year of our course is crucial as it sets the tone for further study, it’s a broad diagnostic year that introduces students to new ways of fine art making and thinking. At the end of the first-year students will select a zone of practice to work in during second year, either painting, sculpture or media & performance, all of this takes place in our outstanding purpose built North Light fine art studios. The role will also involve some contextual studies delivery connected to your skillset in the final 3rd unit of the academic year.

You will have outstanding organisational skills and be able to lead making workshops, group critiques, seminar discussions, lectures and one to one tutorials in an engaging and positive manner. Your delivery will primarily be with first year, and you would be working alongside an outstanding first year staff team.

Applicants must have current knowledge, skills and expertise in specific fine art making and thinking processes, we are open as to what these could be so welcome applicants with any discipline interest. You will hold a master’s degree and have relevant educational experience.

Dependant on experience and qualifications, this role may be offered at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.

Our benefits

In meeting your performance expectations, each year you’ll have a salary increase in line with the grade of your role. As well as this there is an annual cost of living increase. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment. Along with subsidised bus travel, cycle to work and annual savings schemes, our broad range of benefits can be explored on the AUB careers website aub.ac.uk/working-at-aub.

AUB has an agile working policy, and flexible working can be considered. If you require support with your application or have any questions about the role or recruitment process, please email recruitment@aub.ac.uk. If you are disabled, we are committed to supporting you with any reasonable adjustments you require, so please email recruitment@aub.ac.uk and we’ll be in touch.
