Storesperson

University of Cambridge - Girton College

Location: Cambridge
Salary: £24,533 to £25,138 per annum (pro rata)
Hours: Part Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 16th August 2024
Closes: 2nd September 2024

Part-time:  30 hours per week

We are looking for a well-organised, conscientious and committed Storesperson to join our busy Kitchens team at Girton College.

In this role you will spend the first part of your day ‘on the go’ receiving orders from our food and drink suppliers, delivering goods to our catering outlets around the College (including both our Cafeteria and Café/bar areas) and then organising and rotating stocks appropriately in the kitchen stores. You will work with the chefs and front of house teams to ensure that you are aware of all incoming orders and forward stock requirements. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, updating and monitoring goods received information on our stock control system. You will be closely involved with our regular stocktakes.

You will enjoy an active role as part of a busy team and be the sort of person who likes to go home at the end of the shift knowing that you have done a great job, with everything under control and well organised. You will need to be flexible when things sometimes don’t go to plan, remaining calm under pressure, ready to work with colleagues to focus on solutions.

If you’ve worked in a stores or stock control environment previously that would be ideal. But if you’re good at planning and organisation, can demonstrate initiative and good judgement, take satisfaction in a job well done and would like a physically active role in a friendly team, then we would like to hear from you.

Not only will you work in the fabulous surroundings of a Cambridge College, but you will also be entitled to 34 days annual leave (pro rata), free on-site parking, free uniform, free meals on duty, free use of gym and swimming pool, priority places at a local nursery. We also offer all the other benefits associated with working for a large Cambridge University College upon successful completion of your probation period, including a contributory workplace pension scheme, staff wellbeing and employee assistance programme, Medicash Health cashplan, Life Insurance scheme - as well as ongoing training and development opportunities.
