Annual Leave: 35 days pro rata, plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location:  College Lane Campus, Hatfield

The Department of Humanities at the University of Hertfordshire requires a Lecturer in Psychology to teach on its BA Sociology programme. The successful candidate will teach across a range of undergraduate modules.

Main duties and responsibilities

To work in the Department of Humanities providing high quality undergraduate teaching in Psychology including introductory modules (Practicing Psychology in an Uncertain World; Who Am I?) and theme-based modules (e.g. Psychological Myths) as part of the Sociology programme. Candidates whose research and teaching expertise relates to cognitive psychology or to the psychology of education would be especially welcome.

To support the teaching and research within the School on the BA (Hons) Sociology programme, especially students taking the joint Sociology and Psychology pathway.  

Skills and experience required

You will have proven expertise in an area of Psychology and an ability to teach a range of modules.

In addition, you will also have proven experience of teaching in Higher Education, along with administrative or managerial experience. This role also requires good communication skills and the ability to work both as part of a team and under your own initiative.

Ideally you will also have an established or emerging research profile in an area of Psychology or Sociology.

Qualifications required

Honours degree level, or equivalent qualification, in Psychology, plus a postgraduate qualification in Psychology or a PhD or equivalent qualification (completed or close to completion) in a relevant field.
