We are now looking for a Social Media Manager to join our Carmarthen or Swansea campus on a full time, Permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

THE ROLE

The Social Media Manager is responsible for managing the University’s interactions with the public across its suite of social media platforms. They will devise and implement content strategies that increase positive engagement with the University brand, leading to increased student recruitment. 

Based on insight from engagement data and trend analysis, the Social Media Manager will develop creative campaigns for the University’s target audiences on each relevant social media platform. They will be responsible for producing the authentic content for these campaigns, which will require collaboration with stakeholders across the University.

As a member of the Directorate’s management team, the postholder will work closely and collaboratively with the Marketing Manager to ensure the alignment of delivery plans to support the University’s strategic marketing objectives.

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for recruiting and managing a Social Media Officer.

The Social Media Manager’s primary location will be in either Carmarthen or Swansea. However, the post holder may also be required to visit other UWTSD campuses to provide advice and guidance to colleagues.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered as a Social Media Manager, you will need:

• A degree level qualification or equivalent.
• Professional marketing qualification or another related field.
• Previous experience of working in a marketing environment.
• Demonstrable experience of successfully managing corporate social media accounts.
• Demonstrable experience of creating high quality, engaging content for a variety of social media platforms.
• Experience of interpreting data and trend information to support campaign planning and management.
• Demonstrable project management experience.
• Experience of presenting to high level audiences.
• Able to work as part of a team, in partnership with others, and unsupervised.
• Recognises the need for and demonstrates appropriate confidentiality.
• Able and prepared to work flexibly, including travel between campuses and other locations when required.
• Good networking, negotiating and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
• Evidence of capability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to apply attention to detail.
• Excellent IT skills.
• Previous experience of working in Higher Education.
• Experience of managing a budget.

It would also be beneficial if you have:

• Previous line management experience.
• Ability to communicate at a high level through the medium of Welsh – oral and written.
• Knowledge of effective communication practices and experience of drafting engaging bilingual marketing material.
• Membership of a relevant professional association e.g. Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)
