Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.
Library Services is within the Directorate of Student and Academic Services and plays a crucial role in supporting the learning, teaching, and research activities of the University. Our team is dedicated to providing excellent resources, innovative services, and expert guidance to enhance the academic experience of our diverse community of students and staff.
The University now seeks to appoint an E-resource Librarian.
Reporting to the Learning Resources Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective management, accessibility, and optimization of learning resources and systems provided to students and staff. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of workflows and processes on our suite of Ex Libris and other library systems, maintaining and updating authentication methods, and collaborating with stakeholders to troubleshoot e-resource access issues.
In this role, you will manage and optimize library systems such as Alma, Primo, Leganto, and Rialto, overseeing the resource lifecycle of subscription and one-time resources. You'll implement and maintain secure authentication methods for electronic resources, ensuring seamless access for our users. A significant part of your work will involve conducting data analysis and reporting to inform collection development and demonstrate the value of our resources to stakeholders.
Additionally, you'll develop and maintain documentation to support the effective use of e-resources and systems. We're looking for someone who stays informed about emerging trends, including the role of AI in academic search and discovery, and can apply this knowledge to enhance our services.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Library and Information Science or a related technical field, with proven experience in administering integrated library management and discovery systems. You should have a strong understanding of e-resource management, authentication methods, and current trends in academic libraries. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Library Services and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality services and resources to our academic and student community.
