Research Associate

We are seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to work on the research project ‘The Impact of Brexit on European Works Councils’ funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The post offers a unique opportunity to manage and conduct high quality, empirical research, collaborating closely with leading researchers.

This is an international project jointly conducted with project teams in Germany (Ruhr University Bochum) and France (Economic and Social Research Institute – IRES, Paris), whereby the Cardiff team is responsible for the UK part of the research. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with a degree in employment relations, sociology of work or political science and knowledge of or interest in different forms of worker representation, European employment relations, Brexit, or institutional theory. You must have a commitment to high quality academic research; excellent communication and organisational skills; and the ability to work independently but also as part of the project’s wider team.

The role is available on a fixed term basis until 28-February-2026 (Grade 6). Key goals of the project include to publish high-quality journal articles and offers training opportunities to support career development.

Salary: £39,347 - £44,263 per annum (Grade 6)
