About Us

Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

Nursing programmes sit within the Health Sciences subject area within the School of Human Sciences. Within Health Sciences, our programmes are underpinned by an interdisciplinary research community, and by a belief in the relevance of our disciplines as a tool for effecting societal change. Our London location enables us to maintain strong relationships with partner organisations and professional bodies and public service organisations to give our students the best possible experience in both academic teaching and practice learning environments.

About The Post

The Health Sciences Subject area is looking to appoint a full-time Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing, to support the Head of Nursing in the development and delivery of our ambitious BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing programme at London Met. Working with locally identified needs, our nursing programme will have local, primary, community and social care nursing foci: seeking to promote the visibility of primary and social care careers through nursing placements within our nursing curriculum. We will empower our students to work to the scope of their registration on graduation and showcase a full range of nursing career options throughout their learning with us. We are working toward Nursing and Midwifery Council approval for a September 2025 start.

Our nursing provision is complemented with a range of allied health professional courses including dietetics, physiotherapy and psychology, as well as biomedical sciences. Our simulation and skills suite (established 2023), and Superlab provide us with world class facilities to promote interprofessional practice-based and scientific learning for our students.

Successful applicants will be Registered Nurses (Mental Health) with a passion for nurse education, and a drive to see our students succeed. You should have an established background in nursing education and be in possession of a teaching award such as the HEA fellowship or equivalent. Experience in course development, and practice education as a link tutor and/or academic assessor is essential. You should have a good knowledge of the changing landscape of mental health care and the drive toward interprofessional, place-based, and integrated care working.

The work of our team is values driven and explicitly addresses social justice and social inclusion not only through a clear underpinning philosophy but also in the collaborative and participative teaching and learning approach.

This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
