Research Associate/Fellow (ARC LiLaC research pin) (Fixed term)

Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate/Fellow to join our National Institute of Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration East Midlands team (NIHR ARC EM). The role holder will be the lead researcher in our innovative Living Lab programme (called LiLaC), working with care and domiciliary homes to build skills in research capacity and capability. They will be part of our ARC’s BCREI theme (https://arc-em.nihr.ac.uk/about/our-priorities/building-community-resilience-and-enabling-independence), and the Injury, Recovery and Inflammation Sciences Unit in the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham. 

In this highly collaborative project, the role holder will be responsible for close liaison and partnership working to develop, nurture and maintain networks with care and domiciliary homes across the East Midlands. Working in collaboration with a Community Engagement Officer from the ARC’s Centre for Ethnic Health Research, they will also be expected to work into and collaborate with the national cross-ARC Social Care network. 

The role involves co-designing, co-developing and co-delivering research that meets the challenges faced in care settings. The role holder will plan and conduct work using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research required and will be responsible for writing up the work for publication. Role holder will be expected to apply for further funding to sustain both the post and the LiLaC model; to facilitate and further develop EMRAN (East Midlands Research into Ageing Network) hosted by ARC EM.

A PhD or equivalent in care home research or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience in research area OR near to completion of a PhD is required.

This full-time (36.25 hours) position is offered as a fixed-term contract to 31st March 2026. This role is available immediately. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 21.75 hours per week). Specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Hybrid working arrangement with blended approach of office and home working each week possible with agreement, and to meet the requirements of the role. Ability to travel across the East Midlands is a requirement of the role.
