The role

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and talented health researcher with experience in the evaluation of complex healthcare interventions (maternity cover) to support work within the NIHR Bristol Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) Surgical and Orthopaedic Innovation theme. The main purpose is to

  • Conduct a feasibility study for the evaluation of clinical effectiveness committees in hospitals that make decisions about innovative surgery
  • Engaging with stakeholders and leading on site participation
  • Utilise results to develop a full application and
  • Generate ongoing reports as well as publications

The post is 100% FTE (35 hrs per week; part-time considered).

What will you be doing?

The main tasks the successful candidate is expected to undertake are:

  • Literature reviews,
  • Conducting the feasibility study which will be through the conduct and analysis of semi-structured interviews,
  • Working with team members and external stakeholders to deliver multi-centre studies
  • Writing reports and publication as well as future grant applications 

You should apply if

  • You enjoy working in a team and want to be part of cutting-edge research into the development of surgical interventions
  • You have experience in evaluating complex healthcare interventions and analysing data using qualitative methods applied to health research, in particular where this relates to understanding policy makers, and health professionals’ views
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team

Contract type: Fixed term with funding until 30/09/2025 or earlier return of the postholder from maternity leave

Work pattern: Full-time/ 1 FTE (part-time considered)

Shift pattern: 35 hours per week (part-time considered)
