The role

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled qualitative researcher to join Bristol Medical School, as part of the new NIHR-funded Global Health and Ageing Research Unit. Working within an international multi-disciplinary study team, the post holder will be expected to deliver high quality and rigorous research in collaboration with partners in Africa, including South Africa, Zimbabwe and The Gambia. The role will involve research to promote healthy ageing, improve musculoskeletal care, and menopausal health in Africa, working across several multidisciplinary projects.

What will you be doing?

The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and co-ordination of several qualitative research projects related to healthy ageing taking place in Africa, providing ongoing support for fieldworkers in these countries and contributing to the analysis and write up of data.

You should apply if

Candidates should have a PhD in a discipline relevant to qualitative research (examples include sociology, psychology, anthropology, health services research) and experience and knowledge of carrying out global health research in resource-poor settings. The role can be 80% or 100% FTE from 1st October 2024 for two years. Applicants are kindly requested to review the person specification on the job description before applying.
