About the role:

The Di Antonio research group is looking for a talented Research Associate to join the team studying Nucleic Acids structures, working at the interface between Chemistry and Biology. You will work in a multidisciplinary team based in the new Imperial College Molecular Science Research Hub in White City Campus and in close collaboration with the satellite research group that we have established at the Francis Crick Institute.

Dr Di Antonio will personally support fellowship and grant applications by the successful candidate during the duration of the contract. What you would be doing:

The main duty of this position will be to work in a multidisciplinary team to develop a chemical biology platform to interrogate epigenetic changes acquired during development of ovarian cancer chemoresistance. You are expected to contribute to the development of these tools from either a synthetic chemistry point of view (if your background is chemistry) or from a a molecular-biology and genomics angle (if your background is biology). Previous experience in all these areas is not expected. As a member of the Di Antonio group, you will also be collaborating with other group members and support with student supervision. This project is part of an Ovarian Cancer Action Centre, and it will be expected from you to work in close collaboration with Imperial College clinicians based at the Hammersmith Campus. You will also have the opportunity to present your work at international conferences or webinars and leverage on the recently established group satellite at the Crick Institute to engage with the wider biomedical community for application of the platform developed. Dr Di Antonio is particularly keen to fill this position with a motivated candidate wishing to establish their independence, offering direct support for applications to external funding and fellowships.

What we are looking for:

  • Hold, or near completion of, a PhD in Chemistry or Biology or a closely related discipline
  • A highly motivated researcher who is excited to work in a highly multidisciplinary environment
  • A researcher with a profound interest or previous research experience in genomics and epigenetics

Further Information

This is a full time, fixed term position for one year.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant.

The post will be based at the state-of-the-art £170M Molecular Sciences Research Hub at Imperial College White City campus.
