The opportunity

This is an exciting part-time opportunity for an established arts sector practitioner to play a key role in the development and delivery of the Fine Art curriculum at Chelsea College of Arts.

As a Lecturer in Fine Art, you will be responsible for on-going scholarship, teaching, curriculum development and related academic administration, on the BA Fine Art course. This course operates a practically focussed events-based curriculum where students “learn through doing” and critical writing is viewed as an artistic form that supports practical work.

Drawing on your extensive subject knowledge and industry expertise, you will undertake teaching and scholarly activity, including studio and dissertation supervision and assessment.

You will work closely with a diverse staff team, to develop industry-purposed pedagogy and to expand the capacity of the course design to prepare students for careers in the international culture sector. You will also contribute to a curriculum that challenges the canon of contemporary Fine Art, with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity.

About you

You will need a postgraduate degree and substantial professional experience within the art world at an international level.

You will combine this with previous experience of teaching and assessment in a Higher Education environment and will be able to draw on your experience and networks to prepare students for ambitious graduate futures within the culture sectors.

You will have a demonstrable track record of innovative practice in areas such as (but not limited to) new media, practice-based art writing, exhibition-making, and/or event organisation.

You will also exhibit a strong interest in working with emerging artists, and proven experience in designing knowledge or experience sharing activities.
